Brockhill Gives Aid To Japan
Brockhill students are holding a non-school uniform day, 25th March, to raise money for the disaster in Japan.
The deputy head of Brockhill school, Mr Joseph, who has organised the tag day, has kindly agreed to an interview.
He said having a tag day is a good way of raising money because: “it’s the best way to get quick money to those who need it immediately. Japan is a very rich country but they are struggling and desperately need direct equipment.”
“It is important that our school raises money because it allows the students to identify the world and to show that we care.”
“My wife is from Japan and my children are half Japanese. I also have many family members living there so that is why it is important for me personally to raise money. The issue in Japan is very distant for most students but for me it’s more close to home.”
“Our school hopes to raise at least over £1000 but any amount of money will help those who need it most.”
“The money that the school hopes to raise will be donated to charities such as The Red Cross and Shelter Box. The money will most probably be spent on medicine, food, shelter and clean drinking water.”
“Money raising events are good for Brockhill students because it allows them to be part of the wider world. I think Brockhill is a wonderful school and I hope that the money we raise will make a difference.”
The majority of the money Brockhill raises will be donated to Shelter Box. This charity provides boxes that contain tents to live in, tool kits, a stove to cook food on and many other useful essentials that the people in Japan will need while the disaster is being dealt with.
