Letter to Parents 3rd February

February 3rd 2023

Dear Parents and students

Over these past 2 weeks, Years 12 & 13 students have visited the Natural History and Science Museums, as well as the Quarterhouse to watch a screening of the Crucible, in connection with their A level courses.

Last Friday, the Head Girl and Head Boy represented the school at the Holocaust Memorial Service with Mr Wraight, whilst this week students have volunteered with the Hythe Dementia Group and the Saltwood Intergenerational Project. Today, a coach full of Years 7 – 9 students are visiting the Harry Potter Studios, courtesy of Rosie in Year 9, who won a prestigious competition enabling the visit to take place.

We have also held assemblies with all Year Groups talking to them about the importance of kindness to and about each other as well as their role as ambassadors for the school on the way to and from school.

We regularly talk to students about staying safe online and how to do this. 12 Top Tips for building Cyber Resilience at home contains some useful tips.

Our friends at Folkestone & Hythe District Council have asked us to send you their   Community Safety Partnership January newsletter

If like me, you sometimes struggle to know what your secondary school child is doing at school, this 3 or 4 word weekly view for each subject should be helpful. Weekly Learning Overview by Year Group

Our complete Schemes of Work for each subject are also available on the website under Curriculum

As we begin to approach the end of the half-term a reminder of our term dates for this school year. Term Dates (and important dates) 2022 – 2023

This half-term will conclude for students next Thursday, February 9th, as Friday is a Teacher Training Day.

If your child has not yet chosen a book to read for 20 minutes daily, please have them choose and read a book from Digital Library Spring Term 2023

Have a lovely weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
