Letter to Parents 8th March
March 8th 2024
Dear Parents and students
Students have worked very hard this week and have earned 3036 Excellent Effort Points along the way.
We have sent Homework texts this week for a range of subjects in Years 7 – 11 and Years 12 & 13. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments. Of course, it is entirely possible for a student to receive Excellent Effort Points and commendations as well as homework reminder texts in the same week!
This week, our Years 7&8 Girls’ football and Boys’ basketball teams have been in action against other local schools. Students gain so much from participation in sport and team activities, and we are very proud of all these students, who represented Brockhill so splendidly.
Over 500 students have participated in 1 or more lunchtime clubs since January. If your daughter or son has not yet participated in a club activity, please encourage them to. It is a great way to try something new with friends and even make new friends. Of course, they can also attend more than 1 club. Lunchtime and After School Enrichment Clubs & Activities
This morning, students started to plan their Fund Raising Activities in their Academy Tutor Groups for Comic Relief. We want to inspire our students to commit to making the world a better place. So very often though, we are inspired by them and I am sure we will be next week.
Earlier in the week, students considered today’s International Women’s Day in their assembly along with barriers to equality, which remain in all societies.
Yesterday, World Book Day was a great success at Brockhill with wonderful events organised by our librarian, Ms Brown. We distributed 600 World Book Day free books and ran well-being and creative activities including taking part in a national Design a Book Token Competition as well as a Wicked Writers’ Competition.
Again, this week I am proud of how many Years 11 and 13 students attended After School Study Session. Please do encourage your daughter or son to attend these: - the support they receive will be invaluable.

We are working with students to coach them around revision timetable planning and revision techniques and will continue this, so they are in a good place to set about revision over the Easter holiday. If you are not sure or believe your child is not, or that they may be overwhelmed by the task ahead, please do let us know. We are here to help and want to give the best possible support to our students preparing to sit Public Examinations.
This Sunday, March 10th is Mothering Sunday, and I would particularly like to thank students’ female role models and mothers for their support each and every day to guide students’ learning and achievements.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
