Letter to Parents 10th January 2025

January 10th 2025

Dear Parents and students

A belated but no less heartfelt Happy New Year! We end the week having fared very well weather-wise in comparison to so many other parts of the country. I am always watchful around weather events, which may affect us, as any closure during a school day is potentially hazardous for school transport on account of the hilliness of the immediate area.

Through the generous donations of so many families we generally hold a healthy stock of laundered pre-loved school uniform items but are particularly short of school blazers at the moment. If you do have any items of uniform your daughter or son has outgrown, we would be delighted to receive these at our Mansion main reception or in the Student Office, as they may be of help to another student. We can then launder and have these available here at school on parental request for a very modest voluntary donation.

We welcomed students back to school on Monday morning and have held assemblies for students in all Year Groups to mark the New Year stressing the importance of doing our personal best, as well as kindness and how we treat each other in our words and actions. Students have also reflected on their 2024 achievements and identified goals for 2025 in today’s Family Friday session.

Just prior to the holiday we sent letters of commendation to the parents of 759 students for their consistent submission of personal best class and homework assignments and would love to do the same again in February.

We have moved to paper booklets for homework in each subject each half-term for all Year Groups, as we hope it will be easier for parents to oversee their children’s Homework assignments and understand how Homework relates to learning students undertake in school. Our aim is also to give students greater ownership and responsibility for their Homework and for this to align more fully with what they learn in class. Students may however need parental support with which booklet to pack for each day. Thank you as ever!

Yours sincerely
