Letter to Parents May 25th 2021
May 25th 2021
Dear Parents / Guardians
Thank you for all your support of us this half-term.
We are proud of how our students have adapted to the different arrangements operated since May 17th and note that they remain generally cautious when in larger groups.
As stated in our previous letter we also remain cautious and will be undertaking work in Science lessons and Daily Tutor Time about the roles of basic hygiene measures, social distancing, face coverings and vaccination in preventing disease transmission and mitigating its effects. We continue to strongly recommend the wearing of a face covering.
Teaching staff are currently nominating students for commendations in recognition of students’ completion of their personal best class- and homework assignments over the weeks since Easter and we hope to send out several hundred commendations at the end of this week.
We continue to emphasise to students our expectations around equipment, punctuality to and in school, uniform and the requirement to have mobile phones turned off and in bags during lessons, along with our general in school routines. We absolutely will not accept that the learning of the vast majority of students is slowed by the time consuming lapses of so very few.
This and next half-term we are involving as many students as possible from all Year Groups in our University Collaborative Project with students participating in a range of mostly subject related online activities hosted by university staff and students with our staff in attendance. Through these activities we hope to inspire students and provide a ‘window on the world’ at a time when we are not in a position to take students on the Trips and Visits.
We would like to remind you that students will be learning remotely on Wednesday, June 16th on account of the Years 9 & 10 Parents’ Consultation Day with work set in Google Classroom for all students. Students should stick to their normal timetable and work on those tasks through the day and submit all work at the end of the day. Teachers will also set Homework Assignments in Google Classroom as per the Homework Timetable. No online live lessons will take place with teachers. No student should attend school on Wednesday, June 16th. Parents of Years 9 & 10 students, please see yesterday’s Parents' Consultations Day Years 9 & 10 Wednesday, June 16th 2021 - Information Letter
Free School Meals Vouchers for the half-term holiday funded by KCC will be sent out in the same way as for the half-term holiday by the KCC provider WONDE from next Wednesday.
Please see Parent and Guardian Ordering.
We are immensely grateful to you that the vast majority of students now report carrying out a once weekly Lateral Flow Test at home It is our intention to continue testing students once weekly as per our regular schedule through the rest of the summer term. During the school holiday, please carry on testing –twice weekly rather than once a week.
