Letter to Parents 8th July 2024
July 5th 2024
Dear Parents and students
Thank you for your support over this past week. This week has been a busy one with 36 Year 7 students sampling French village life in Wissant for the day on Tuesday. Wednesday saw a party of 13 Year 8 students attend World Languages Day at the University of Kent, where they set their minds to Ukrainian and Japanese! And yesterday saw 65 Years 8 & 9 students attend a performance of Richard 3rd at the Globe Theatre in London.
We have held Induction Days for Year 6 students this week and will be welcoming the parents of current Year 5 students for Open Evening next week. Several parents of Year 6 students commented to me this morning and yesterday about how welcoming older Brockhill students have been during the Year 6 Induction days. I am proud of all our students for these individual acts of kindness to reassure and welcome the Year 6 students to life at Brockhill.
Next week, we will be talking to students about the Work Packs we are providing in each subject for students to complete over the summer holiday. These will be set out in a weekly format, so students can easily see what tasks they need to complete in a given week. Maintaining good and regular study habits over the summer holiday will support them to do well in September, and the tasks we set will still leave plenty of time for leisure and valuable family time! We will of course be recognizing students’ efforts as we start back out in September.
Friday, July 19th – the final day of term – will see us ending the school year with our Brockhill Tag Trek. We will provide you with more information next week, but just to note for the moment that school on that day will finish at midday with school transport departing then. The day will run as a non-uniform day, and we ask students and staff to donate £1, which we will donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and we will divide the money between them.
We continue to follow the progress of our former History teacher, Mr Zintel-Warner on his journey in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

As students prepare to leave us for the summer holidays we will be providing them and you with a range of information designed to support parents in keeping their children safe over the upcoming summer holiday weeks. Today’s information is directly from the Department of Education:

And to finish off, a note from our librarian, Ms Brown about how to purchase discounted books and have them delivered to Brockhill through Bookworms.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph
