Letter to Parents 20th December 2024
December 20th 2024
Dear Parents and students
This last week of term has flown by. We are delighted to be sending letters of commendation to the parents of 759 students today for the submission of personal best class and homework assignments. Of the 759 students, 106 have been nominated by 3 or more of their teachers and their parents will also receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold Certificate of Commendation. In addition, teachers had awarded 1368 Excellent Effort Points this week at the beginning of school today.
On Monday this week, Drama students supported St Leonard’s Church assisting in a live nativity performance for Hythe Bay primary school students. Likewise, Drama students volunteered at Saltwood Care Home bringing Christmas to the residents through a musical theatre performance. Our production of Cinderella has been performed to two packed audiences as well as local primary schools.
Students from 7-13 have been supporting The Rotary Club with their Christmas Collection in Hythe High Street for charities such as The Salvation Army, Porchlight and The Rainbow Centre and have raised £620. This means we have raised in excess of £3000 for charities, both near and far since September. We are so proud of our students’ commitment to others and all the volunteering activities they carry out.
In today’s Family Friday session we finished off the term with thanks to students for their Care, Courtesy and Consideration through Kindness towards others and students from Years 7-13 have participated in the Inter Academy Football Tournament.
For Year groups, who are sitting Public Examinations in the summer, we have set work in the Google Classroom for submission soon after the school holiday. Of course, we recognise the need for family time in the coming 2 weeks and the amount set by teachers reflects this. Students in Year 13 will begin their next round of Pre-public Examination on Monday, January 20th with Years 11 starting on Tuesday, January 21st. Please see:

Today, Mrs Barnes leaves us for a well-earned retirement following 19 years of service at this school. In her time with us, she has shone, not only as a Subject Leader and teacher of Computing, but through her humanity, kindness and consideration to all she encountered. We will miss Mrs Barnes and wish her well!
