Letter to Parents and Students 17th January 2025

January 17th 2025

Dear Parents and students

Thank you for all your support this week. Students have worked very hard this week and earned 2935 Excellent Effort Points by 2pm today.

Earlier in the week I spoke to the students about the importance of kindness, their role as ambassadors for the school on their way to and from school, as well as during the school day.

Today, the Student Council has met under the leadership of Mrs Eastham, and put forward their ideas for raising money for bulbs and seeds to beautify the school environment as well as for learning resources in primary schools. This is so impressive.

We have also sent a number of Homework messages today. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments.

We aim to provide students with a ‘Window on the World’ and ensure as many activities beyond the classroom as we can. Since term began, students have participated in ski lessons in Chatham, as well as football fixtures against schools from across the area and a Gladiators event at Three Hills in Folkestone, where they sampled wheelchair rugby and basketball. I am proudest of the commitment and participation of the students, not just their victories! Elsewhere, Sixth Form students of French participated in a workshop at the University of Kent and Year 11 watched a belated performance by a visiting Theatre Group of a Christmas Carol.

Here is our new Digital Library for this term. It contains exciting and enjoyable books for each year Group from Years 7 – 13. We want every student to read for pleasure for 20 minutes daily. Please have them choose a book and read each day.

Please do remind your daughter or son that we offer a free hot breakfast to all students before school begins. Some young people skip or just do not want to eat breakfast early in the morning but can become very hungry later on. And finally:
