Letter to Parents 7th March 2025

March 7th 2025

Dear Parents and students

Students have worked very hard this week and have earned 2314 Excellent Effort Points along the way. We have sent Homework texts this week for a range of subjects in Years 7 – 11 and Years 12 & 13. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments. Of course, it is entirely possible for a student to receive Excellent Effort Points and commendations as well as homework reminder texts in the same week!

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, our Year 11 students experienced ‘A Day in the Life of a Sixth Former’ to help inform their planning for September 2025. Also on Wednesday, our school Librarian student librarians and a member of our School Council visited Sellindge and Selsted Primary schools delivering 25 books - purchased from student fund raising activities - to each school. The students were keen to share the love of reading with others!

Sixth Form Animal Management students visited the Big Cat Sanctuary at Smarden as part of their course yesterday and today, 200 girls have participated in a day of Let Girls Play Football organised by our PE teachers to mark International Women’s Day tomorrow.

Over 500 students have participated in 1 or more lunchtime clubs since January. Of course, students can also attend more than 1 club. Lunchtime Clubs and After School Activities

Again, this week I am proud of how many Years 11 and 13 students attended After School Study Sessions. Please do encourage your daughter or son to attend these. The support they receive will be invaluable.

Today’s Family Friday Academy Tutor period has dealt with the important issue of sleep. So many young people do not get enough sleep and access mobile phones late into the night.

Our friends at Folkestone & Hythe District Council have asked us to share

An important reminder about mobile phones from last Friday’s letter.

Have a lovely weekend.
