Letter to parents 21st January

January 21st 2021

Dear Parents / Guardians

Thank you for your support of Home School today. The very large majority of students are now attending all their Live Online lessons and submitting their assignments in good time to their teachers. Students should not forget that when a teacher returns work to them with suggestions for improvement that they will need to submit the assignment again, or the Guardian Summary will show it as undone. We will not be recording live Online lessons and students must not either. They must not photograph / screenshot either.

Thank you to those of you, who have already submitted consent forms in respect of COVID-19 testing in school. This will enable us to make a brisk and efficient start to testing, following any large-scale return to school.

Today, we are providing you with further and different video based resources designed to support you with ensuring your children’s digital safety in the current circumstances.

Information, Advice and Support to Keep Children Safe Online (internetmatters.org)

In the week beginning February 8th, we will be asking students to carry out undertake tasks under test conditions in their Live Online lessons. We will be giving students plenty of practice in the meantime. We need to carry on building up students’ skills to work under test conditions, even in the current difficult situation. For students in Years 11 & 13, undertaking albeit much briefer Pre-public examinations, will provide us with further information to support evidence for Centre Assessed Grades, evidence for which we may be called upon to submit. We had also made this a priority, following our return to school in September.

Please do take time to participate in the DFE consultation seeking teacher, parent and student views about how they think examination grades should be awarded this summer:

Consultation on how GCSE, AS and A level grades should be awarded in summer 2021

We are asking all our staff to participate in the consultation and a strong representation from all Brockhill stakeholders will be fantastic.

The Daily Tutor Time activity tomorrow, Friday is:

Quiz.  - Fun for the whole family!

We want all our students to remain safe by following the National Lockdown Guidance

as well as to remember social distancing, hand washing and face coverings, so as to play their part in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Yours Sincerely,
