Letter to Parents 8th July
July 8th 2021
Dear Parents
Thank you for your support of your daughters and sons and of course of us.
Next week, Friday July 16th is the last day of term. We will run a normal school day and finish at 3pm.
Today, we are enclosing our Digital Library for the summer. It contains a range of exciting and enjoyable books to read for each year Group from Years 7 – 13. We want to encourage all our students to read for pleasure over the summer. Please ensure they choose a book and read each day for at least 20 minutes. Research evidence is very clear in respect of students who read daily understanding and achieving so much more highly across their school subjects. Digital Library Summer Holiday
As students leave us for the summer holidays we will be providing you with a range of information designed to support parents in keeping their children safe over these upcoming weeks. Today’s information is directly from the Department of Education for parents. Keeping Children safe during Community Activities, After School Clubs and Tuition
Free School Meal vouchers will be issued to parents in the usual way by WONDE on the Wednesday of each week of the holiday. Please see Parent and Guardian Ordering.
This week we are talking to students about the Work Packs we are providing in each subject for students to complete over the summer holiday. These will be set out in a weekly format, so students can easily see what tasks they need to complete in a given week. Maintaining good and regular study habits over the summer holiday will support them to do well in September and the tasks we set will still leave plenty of time for leisure and valuable family time!
We shall of course monitor for changes to the Operational Guidance for schools over the summer and inform you of our plans just prior to starting back. We will however remain cautious and in reality very many of the arrangements we have in place will continue: extra hand hygiene, extra day time cleaning, one way systems to avoid crowding, ventilation / open doors and windows, as well as the loading of students on to buses in Year Groups at the end of the day. Schools’ Operational Guidance (from July 19th)
It is also our intention to continue Lateral Flow Testing of students once weekly as per our regular schedule, at least until the end of the autumn term.
Yours sincerely
