Letter to Parents 8th November 2024
November 8th 2024
Dear Parents and Students
This week has simply flown by.
Students have undertaken Remembrance activities in their Daily Tutor Groups each morning this week and the Brockhill minute’s silence will be observed with a reading on Monday at 11am.
This morning in our Family Friday session Academy Tutors led a ‘Movember’ assembly.
Next week, we will be seeking teacher nominations for students submitting their personal best assignments for the 2 online learning days either side of half-term, so we can celebrate this by commendation.
Beyond the classroom this week students have been Poppy Selling in Aldi and Sainsburys in Hythe. On Thursday 20 Year 12/13 Drama, English and Psychology A Level students attended Witness for the Prosecution, Agatha Christie at County Hall in London. And on Friday, 14 Years 12 and 13 Geography students visited Environmental Health Agency Centre in Wickhambreaux to study the River Stour.
Earlier this year, we entered 8 students' translations in the Stephen Spender Poetry in Translation prize. 5 of our students - Yeva, Davi, Joao and Laura all in Year 10 as well as Matheus in Year 11 have been recognised and commended for the quality of their translation work. We are so proud of them for doing so well against so many competitors in a national competition!
Again today, we are sending simple SMS messages to parents if a student has not submitted homework, even after a deadline extension. Our homework durations aide memoir to teachers, sets out expectations for homework in each subject. In Examination Year Groups though, students who do not submit homework assignments will simply perform less well in Public Examinations. Your support is vital here.
Please encourage your daughter or son to attend a Club Activity at least once a week. Please see Lunchtime Clubs listed on our website.
If your daughter or son is in Year 11 please see again our Sixth Form Open Evening Invitation Letter for next Tuesday.
We are grateful to our families for all their support getting their daughters and sons into school and ready to learn each day. This support is so vital and has enabled us to send 2578 Excellent Effort Points since Tuesday morning. A great note on which to end the week!
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely
Charles Joseph
Principal
