Letter to Parents 22nd November 2024
22nd November 2024
Dear Parents and Students
Thank you for all your support this week.
As of 12:30pm, we had sent 3028 Excellent Effort points to parents in recognition of their daughter or son’s hard work. We wish to recognize every student, so please encourage your daughter or son to submit their personal best class- and homework assignments.
This week saw us busy in the classroom, particularly with our Public Examination Year Groups, who have also been sitting Walking Talking (teachers help) followed by Pre-public (teachers don’t help) GCSE and A level Examinations. Well done to all those students for the way they conducted themselves throughout these important preparatory examinations.
Beyond the classroom our Years 10 & 12 Dancers attended a Creative Careers Day at the Jasmine Vardimon Company in Ashford. Our Netballers and footballers have also played a number of fixtures against local schools during this past week. Their commitment to their sport and teammates is impressive!
We will be holding a carol service during the school day on Wednesday, December 4th at our beautiful local Saltwood Church. All students are invited to attend. Please see the information letter with full information and the crucial consent form, which needs to be submitted online by next Friday, so your daughter or son can attend. By moving to issuing paper booklets to students for Homework in each subject each half-term starting with Year 11 and Year 10, we hope it will be easier for parents to oversee their children’s Homework assignments and understand how Homework relates to learning students undertake in school. Our aim is also to give students greater ownership and responsibility for their Homework and for this to align more fully with what they learn in class.
We want to encourage all our students in Years 7 – 13 to read for pleasure for 20 minutes a day. Students who read daily develop their understanding and achieve so much more highly across their school subjects. Please choose a book with your daughter or son, if they are not currently reading one.
