Letter to Parents and Students - 7th February 2025
February 7th 2025
Dear Parents and students
Students have worked very hard this week and earned 2249 Excellent Effort Points by midday today.
Thank you, parents for all your support. This lies behind every one of the students’ achievements.
This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and Academy Tutors have been talking about these concerns in our Family Friday - Children's Mental Health Week
Every single one of our Year 11 students has entered education or employment or training for many years and we want none of our students left behind. To that end Mr Coles has designed a Guide for you: -
Brockhill Parent Guide to Navigating your Child's Future
Mr Coles has also organised a number of events in school during next week’s National Apprenticeship Week.
On Tuesday this week, students participated and were winners in the Youth Speaks debating competition hosted here at Brockhill by the local Rotary Club. On Wednesday, Dr Catherine Priggs and Dr Geraint Brown of Cambridge University led a History GCSE revision workshop for Year 11 students here at Brockhill. Also in school on Wednesday, staff and students from Canterbury Christchurch University ran an Aspiration Workshop for our Year 9 students; and our Years 10 and 12 Drama students travelled to the Marlowe in Canterbury on Thursday, where they took in a performance of Dear Evan Hansen.
In sport, our Years 8,10 and 11 Netball and Basketball teams represented us across the area and Scarlett in Year 9 is set to represent Kent in Cross Country.
If your daughter or son has not yet applied for a place in our Sixth Form, please encourage them to do so over the half-term. Our Sixth Form Induction will run for 3 days from immediately after GCSE examinations from Monday, June 23rd – Wednesday, June 25th.
Please ensure your child has chosen and is reading a book from Digital Library Spring Term 2024 - 25
We have sent Homework texts this week for a range of subjects in Years 7 – 11 and Years 12 & 13. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments next week. Of course, it is entirely possible for a student to receive Excellent Effort Points as well as homework reminder texts in the same week!
If you are not claiming Free School Meals but believe you may be eligible please apply now via:

Separately, we currently have a large number of books, which are overdue for return to our school library. Please check this with your daughter or son, so they are returned before half term and then available to the next reader.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
